I like it this way

My life and watching people

Is there something wrong with buying at garage sales?

I have always shopped at garage sales and I have no problem wearing clothes that belonged to someone else. That may be because I was always wearing my cousin’s hand me downs when I was a kid. We were pretty poor and my cousins weren’t so I ended up with some pretty nice clothes. Never bothered me. But I have never been a materialistic person anyway.

However, I remember, one time, I brought my teenage son home a shirt I had bought him at a garage sale. I was a single mom, so we didn’t exactly have money to throw around, so I don’t know where Justin got his superior attitude about the clothes he wore. He would not wear that shirt, and he would rather buy two pair of name brand jeans and two shirts for $100 when it was time to shop for school clothes than get a ton of good decent, slightly worn clothes for the same price. Now I am not slamming him, in fact, I kind of admire it that he has great taste and thinks well of himself, looks like I did something right.

What about you? Do you mind wearing garage sale clothes? And do your kids act the same way Justin did or do they care?

It’s a matter of beliefs. Does wearing other people’s “resale” make you feel inferior or does it make you feel like you...
